Drew Westen, Ph.D., is a clinical, personality, and political psychologist and neuroscientist, and Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at Emory University. He is the founder of Westen Strategies, a strategic messaging firm, and frequently comments on political and psychological issues on radio, television, and in print, including the the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, “Anderson Cooper 360,” “Hardball,” Huffington Post, “The Charlie Rose Show,” and politico.com.
Dr. Westen is the author of three books and more than 200 articles, including The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of the Nation, a ground-breaking investigation into the role of emotion in determining the political life of the nation.
The Political Brain shows how a different view of the mind and brain leads to a different way of talking with voters about issues that have tied the tongues of Democrats for much of 40 years — such as abortion, guns, taxes, and race.
