Supporters Speak Out
Many people support Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties for different reasons. For some it is a generational tradition, or because they understand reproductive health services help shape a person’s future, or it could be that they are grateful for the wide variety of health services we provide to the local community.
Telling your story helps us preserve and expand access to essential health care services and education programs for our communities. Whether you’re a patient, donor, parent, volunteer, or reproductive rights activist, we want to hear from you and what inspires your support!
“When I was younger, Planned Parenthood was there for me. I made a promise that I would always give back to help other women in need.”
“You provided medical care to my daughter who had no insurance. Her condition would have progressed to cancer without the processional care she received from you. Thank you.”
“I am a nearly 60-year-old man of faith — attending weekly services and more. I believe in women’s economic and reproductive freedom to choose. I do not believe “personhood” exists at the time of conception. I believe effective planning and birth control will reduce abortions (a worthy goal). Family planning is natural; confounding the erroneous judgment to the contrary by the Catholic Church. I am a communitarian and believe family planning is good for the community.”
“When I was first out of college and doing freelance work only (more than 30 years ago), Planned Parenthood was my only source of health care and contraception. I have always been thankful for your services. Now with a successful career, I can give back so you can continue to serve others. While the Komen move was terrible, I am glad to see so many rallying to support you. It was evident how many services you provide. Thank you!”
“My high-school-aged son often hears us discussing current event and politics and participates in the conversations. He really seemed to key in during our household conversations about Komen defunding Planned Parenthood. During one such conversation, our son volunteered that he wanted to send a portion of his paycheck to Planned Parenthood because he supports the work you do and feels that politics shouldn’t prevent access to health care.”
“Very simple: Because I am a woman and because I have always believed that we were responsible for our bodies and our actions. This at a very young age and now at age 96, I feel the same way.”
“As a nurse I saw the results of botched illegal abortions. It makes more sense to prevent pregnancies and provide women with health care and education. And it is better economically and emotionally to provide contraception.”
